Sewer Cleanout Installation in Long Beach, CA
Property-Line Access | Sized for What You Will Need It For | CSLB #1051553 | Se Habla Español
A cleanout is the difference between a plumber working at your curb and a plumber working in your bathroom. Very little else about a drain job changes as much on that one fact. Ser Plumbing locates, repairs and installs sewer cleanouts for properties in the north half of Long Beach and its central districts, sized to the work you are likely to want done through them.
It pays to know what is written down here before anybody quotes you: where the code expects an access point to be located, and how large that access has to be before the city will perform certain work at your address.
The reasons people call is short and all the same shape. Nobody can find an access on the property, or the one that exists is too small to pass a camera or a jetting hose, or its cap is broken and letting soil in, or every clearing so far has meant pulling a toilet or going onto the roof. A sale inspection with nowhere to put a camera belongs on the same list. Each of those is a limitation discovered at the worst possible moment, in a yard, with a machine that will not fit.

Pricing & Response
Depth at the point where the fitting would go is what this estimate is built on.
Standard labor discounts apply: military and first responders 10% up to $100, seniors 65+ and teachers 5% up to $50, first-time customers 10% on qualifying repairs, one per job. Commercial and apartment properties are quoted per site.
How the Job is Scoped
You tell us what you have been doing for access up to now, and what you expect to need the cleanout for.
The line is located from the surface and its depth recorded at the point we would install.
The position is chosen with the property line, the paving, and the future work all in view.
You get a written price naming the size of the fitting, and a description of how the ground is left.
The opening is made, the tie-in is done, and the access is finished flush and marked so it can be found.
Where a permit applies, it is pulled, and the signed record comes to you with the invoice.

Long Beach Sewer Cleanout FAQS
Straight answers for Long Beach homeowners. Anything not covered here, just ask.
Ask us directly ↗What size cleanout should I ask for?
Four inches or larger, written on the estimate as a number in inches. Two things belong beside it: whether the fitting is two-way, and what size the line it ties into actually is. Those are separate numbers, and only one of them is chosen on the day.
Does Long Beach require me to have one?
The code calls for one at the property line and for cleanouts at intervals on straight runs. How that lands on a house built decades before the current text is a question for the city. If somebody tells you one is required as part of the work you are already buying, ask to see it on the permit, because that is where a requirement is written down and a sales conversation is not.
How do I find out whether I already have one?
Walk the strip between the building and the sidewalk first, looking for a round cap under grass or a shrub. Then read the inspection report from when you bought the house, since a cleanout is exactly the kind of thing it records and almost nobody opens that document twice. Failing both, a locate settles it in minutes.
Can it go in the driveway or under a planter?
It can, and it is usually the answer to avoid. A cleanout set in concrete means a saw cut whenever anything has to happen at it, and a patch that will be visible from the day it is made. Where the layout offers a soft-surface position that still reaches both ways, take that one.
Is this permitted work?
Get the answer in writing from whoever quotes you, before you accept the quote. Where one applies, the signed inspection record is the document to keep. An invoice records that you paid someone; a buyer's inspector, years from now, asks for the record.
I have a cleanout, but the cap is broken. Is that urgent?
It should not wait indefinitely, and the reason is mechanical rather than dramatic. An open access takes in soil until it stops being an access. In the meantime, put something over it that will neither blow away nor drop in, and mark where it is, since a fitting nobody can find is the same problem as no fitting at all.
Will installing one fix my slow drain?
No, and anyone suggesting otherwise is selling. A cleanout is access; the blockage is a separate purchase. Expect the two on the estimate as two lines with two prices, and if they arrive as a single number, ask which part of it is which. → Drain cleaning long beach
